At 9 years of age, Skyler Veek received her first camera. Immediately, her passion for creation, love of nature and willingness to explore the world through a lens became an integral part of her life--following her throughout junior high and high school. Along the way she steadily upgraded cameras; from her dad's old 1970's piece to a Konica Minolta SLR and then into the world of digital photography. Today, Skyler uses natural settings and cutting edge digital technology to fuel her business as a professional photographer. Her respect for animals and the Earth means she works diligently to maintain integrity in all of her photography sessions. The landscape is always left in perfect order, while she lets natural lighting and raw materials add to the beauty of the setting. In her work as a photographer, Skyler creates from a photojournalism perspective. While she doesn't expect perfection in the outdoor surroundings or in her clients, she does seek an authentic experience that truly encapsulates a specific moment in time. She's also willing to do the work necessary to allow a client's vision and story to come to fruition. Skyler isn't afraid to take a shot close to the ground (even if it means crawling boot camp style through the mud!) or up high if that's what best captures a particular moment. She's constantly moving around, assessing the environment and looking for a shot that will be both creative and beautiful. Clients can expect a laid back experience with Skyler--it's important to her that they feel relaxed and comfortable throughout a session. For her, communication is key; she's continually checking in with her client to make sure they're having fun and enjoying themselves. In addition, making the most of new digital technology is a fundamental part of her business. And that's why clients have access to their own professional online gallery to order their photographs. Skyler photographs a variety of events; including weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, class reunions and corporate parties. She also specializes in family, senior, baby and engagement portraits. Skyler's work has been featured at: -Nehalem's Art Happens Gallery -Bay City Arts Center -Tillamook's Pioneer Museum -Art Space Gallery Her work has also been published in the Hoquarten Slough Interpretive Trail Guide and the Concrete Disciples web site.
